Industry Led Solutions: Gulf of Mexico
On November 20-21, 2003 the Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research (TIAER) and Iowa State University Extension (ISUE) will host a two-day workshop in St. Louis, Missouri entitled Industry-Led Solutions: Gulf of Mexico. Industry-Led Solutions: Gulf of Mexico will bring together leaders from the agricultural industry to focus on the flow of nutrients through the Mississippi River basin to the Gulf of Mexico. Particular emphasis will be placed on the Gulf Hypoxia Action Plan and the role agricultural leadership can contribute to proposed efforts. Participants will include producers from livestock and crop sectors in the Mississippi River basin, EPA Regional Administrators, USDA State Conservationists, as well as representatives from the environmental community, financial institutions, municipalities, and non-agricultural industry. The workshop will emphasize leadership and the building of relationships as key factors in addressing environmental issues related to agriculture. For more information please see the workshop Executive Summary or contact TIAER at 254-968-9567.
